NBA RESULTS, FRIDAY 12/16

Well that was an odd slate.  Let's take a look at what happened, starting with our building blocks.  Up first is one Jimmy Butler, who followed up his 21 point, three assist and three rebound stinker from last night with his worst game of the season.  Hell, he couldn't even crack double-digits in points tonight, the first time this season he failed to do so.  His 26.25 fantasy points was just short of 4x value.  Pitiful.

On the other side of that game, we targeted Giannis Antetokounmpo.  He is literally a Freak.  This guy is so good.  His line on the night was 22 PTS, 11 AST, 7 REB, 1 BLK, 3 STL.  That was good for 55.25 fantasy points.  So no complaints from him.

So with Giannis going over to compensate for Butler's crap game, we still had a fighting chance.  Kyle Lowry, another target, went for 27 PTS, 6 AST, 2 REB, 3 TO.  That netted him 37 fantasy points which was below the 7x we're looking for to hit value. The other target, Evan Fournier, was the same, only hitting for 27 fantasy points, some five below what he needed for value.

So our targets ended up 25.65 points below what we needed/expected in order to hit 7x value.  Not good.  The rest of the lineup would have to pickup the slack for any chance of cashing tonight.

Good news was that value plays Ramon Sessions, Nick Young and Matt Barnes all hit or came within two points of going 7x.  Bad news is that Sergio Rodriguez did not, posting only 15.75 fantasy points, or only 3.6x value.  Pretty much nail in the coffin there.

Still had our late-night hammer to go in Rudy Gobert.  But in the slowest paced game in the NBA on the season to date, it was an impossible task to ask the Frenchman to go for 10x value which was what was needed to have a shot at the money tonight.

In the end, it was Butler's stinker that really doomed the lineup.  He was only 9% owned.  My gamble on him didn't pay off this time.  I was also disappointed in Lowry tonight.  I think it's the first time this year I haven't hit value with a PG against Atlanta.

No cash tonight.  Back at it tomorrow.  Hopefully with better luck.
